Audi TT pics galore! All high rez
Turns out Audi was holding out on us and has just released a album's worth of photos depicting the new TT in various states of pose. We got some more desert shots that seemed to have been not included in the first official pics Audi released. There's also a whole slew of shots showing a Steel Blue TT on the road, as well as cutaway shots showing the powertrain and driveline and even original sketches of the new TT during its gestation period.

i'd say i see a fair deal of resemblance to the Focus ST, the fender bulges, the headlights, the V-shaped crease in the hood leading down to the grill... those lights in the intakes too, i guess. Looks very nice to me... much nicer proportions than the old one, much less cartoonish. Almost like a porsche.

I am seriously getting annoyed by the amount of use that 3-D software and Photoshop gets used by Promotional Shots.. A friend and I sat down and Had a look at some Bugatti Veyron Shots and only 2 out of 11 looked convincing enough to be / were real..

Credit to Audi for taking a revolutionary, original, and thought inspiring design, and turning it into this snoozefest. This thing looks like a stretched A4 it is...the proportion are all off, the interior, which was one of the most attractive parts of the old TT, now looks like it was lifted out of a Pontiac (don't flame me I'm not talking about quality just looks). Audi played it VERY safe with this car, while the chances it took with the first TT are what established the car...ZZZZZZZZ

Love this car. Swoopy, taught and masculine. Beautiful new headlamps and a gorgeous flowing hoodline. Too bad Audi doesn't know how to design grills. The black plastic theme is very low end and 90's looking. Both the radiator grill and the lower bumper inserts look like afterthoughts. And they are massive. Not sure why Audi has been struggling with this for so many years. It's a cheap plasticky black look, where there should be style and elegance. Like someone jammed in a few pieces of plastic grating from some made-in-Taiwan speaker grill. One expects to see something substantial in the front of an Audi, and this huge gaping plastic looks awful. The front of the Ford Focus is much classier.

Wow, that interior is a big step backwards from the current TT. The whole thing is kind of a step back... If Audi couldn't make the new TT as beatiful and meaningful as the first, they should have just retired the TT (making an instant classic) and started on something new.

agree with AJ + JH... audi's accomplishment with the last TT was moving away from the "Focus-ish" headlamp design that 95% of all cars have today, and instead letting the geometrical theme of the previous generation VW's and Audi's dictate the form (courtesy of J Mays, now at Ford, i think). it's been a shame to see the new VW's move away from that, and now the TT as well. this new one is still a fast-looking car, but its just not that unique anymore.

heh, just to finish my thought-- one of the great things about being a car lover is that sometimes you get to see great designs evolve over time. you look forward to seeing how a good designer is going to expand on a theme that worked so perfectly the first time.
that hasn't happened here at all.

yeah, regarding the headlights, one of my favorite design elements from the original TT were that the headlights and taillights were almost, if not exactly the same shape. It really played up that spooky symmetry that made the TT such a compelling design. The new design ditches most of these quirky touches.

From reading some of the other comments, I guess I'm one of the few who likes it. I like the lines of the car. I agree that the grill could be better but over all the car is hot!! They're gonna sell a bunch of these...

I've been racking up the points on my Audi VISA card for this? Perhaps Audi spent the time making power windows that close or horns that don't need replacing every 18 months. I want a new TT roadster, but I can't imagine trading swapping this for my 2001 TT coupe and $30,000.

I loved the previous TT, but this takes away from the original design in my opinion. It is TOO masculine and bulky; the original movement and flow in the body curves is gone and now the car looks too "Incredible Hulk" IMO. Love the interior, but definitely agree about the poor grill design - why are all auto manufacturers getting on the Bugatti bandwagon and designing these gaping blowup doll grills? Oh well.... I'm a MINI driver anyway (another design that will be screwed up in the 2007 redesign...)

The new TT looks like a 350Z with a Mack truck grill. Audi and VW designers must have gone AWOL.

I would agree they played it very safe with the evolution. The grille? I'll wait to pass judgement until I see US-spec car.
Does seem a bit more taut. I think it lost something in the transition though.
Just one huge gripe. Could we bury this red light thing once and for all?
Red illumination is the hardest to see at night. Saab (and more importantly) fighter jets got away from this years ago. A massive red warning light will stand out in a field of black and white, or backlit gauges. But, red light is hardest to see instruments in. A red GPS or multipurpose screen? How does this still get past TuV?
Yeah, it sounded like a great idea in the 70's. However, once we did the science proving that it really sucked, why is it still coming out? Worse, there are designers who still think there's a *benefit*.
